Burraco Score

The scorekeeper for your game: one-on-one or two against two, target score of your choice, unlimited editable hands, and a dealer that rotates on its own — so you argue about the cards, not about who deals them. One app for iPhone and iPad.

The game

Enter the names — all four for a pairs game, just the first of each team for one-on-one — and the app asks who deals: it can draw lots or you can pick. From then on the deal passes automatically to the next player after each hand, alternating between teams.

It remembers the names: in the next game you tap the ▾ arrow inside the field and pick from the list instead of typing it again. A name already used in another field doesn’t show up, so it can’t end up twice in the same game.

You choose the target

Once the names are confirmed, the app asks how many points you’re playing to: 2,000, 3,000, 4,000 or 5,000. To win you have to pass it by five — at 2,000 the game ends at 2,005, as the official rules require. The bar under each score shows how far each team still has to go.

The score, and how to fix it

For each hand you enter honours and points: the hand total appears in red, the running total stands out at the top. Penalties are entered with the ± key, which adds a minus sign to the number pad. And values are checked before they go in — points in multiples of 5, honours in multiples of 50 and never negative: if something doesn’t add up, the confirm button locks and tells you what to fix.

If a wrong hand has already gone in, tap it in the list: honours and points go back into the fields, you fix them and press “Save correction”. The dealer doesn’t change.

The scoreboard in the middle of the table

Tap the score box, or the ⤢ button at the top, and the two teams’ totals go full screen — to leave in the middle of the table, where everyone can see them. While the scoreboard is open, the screen stays on. One tap and you’re back to the game.

History and rankings

Behind the trophy icon 🏆 there’s a log of every game played, with scores and winners, and the rankings by player: games, wins, points. Games between the same two pairs are grouped into a single match-up, with the head-to-head record.

The game in progress, though, isn’t saved: close the app or press ↻ and the scoreboard goes blank. Only games that reached the target end up in the history. Everything stays on your device — nothing is uploaded anywhere, and no account is needed.

The rules, when you need them

The “How to play” screen has a button that opens the official tournament rules: if you already have Codice di Gara Burraco it opens straight away, otherwise it takes you to its App Store page.

One app, and the ads

Since version 5.0, Burraco Score is a single app for iPhone and iPad, with an interface designed for the big screen too, in portrait and landscape. It’s free, supported by ads, and the ads can be removed: an annual subscription, or a one-time purchase that lasts forever.

The earlier versions — Burraco Score Classic for iPhone, Burraco Score HD and HD Light for iPad — are no longer on sale. If you bought them you can keep using them, but they no longer get updates; and since the App Store treats them as separate apps, the old purchase doesn’t carry over to the new one.
