The 50 American states, learned by playing: a state lights up on the map and pops out enlarged, and you name it as fast as you can. On iPhone, iPad and Apple TV, in English.
Each turn, a state lights up in yellow on the map and an enlarged copy pops out, so even the smallest ones, like Rhode Island or Delaware, are easy to see. Once you’ve guessed all 50, the game is over.
If you don’t know one, tap “Skip this state”: you move on to the next one and the skipped state comes back later in the same game.
In Classic you type the state’s name and get three attempts. Capitals, accents, apostrophes and hyphens don’t matter: “new york” and “New York State” are both fine.
In Multiple choice you pick from four answers and get two attempts: it’s the mode for younger children. It’s part of Premium, and never shows ads.
Each correct answer is worth 100 points plus a speed bonus, which starts at 100 and drops to zero in 20 seconds. Each wrong answer costs 10 points, but the score never goes below zero.
When you guess all 50 states, your score goes to the Game Center leaderboard for the mode you played: two leaderboards, the same on every device.
Since version 4.0, Guess the US State is a single app for iPhone, iPad and Apple TV. On the TV you play Multiple choice with the remote, and you need Premium, bought on Apple TV or on iPhone or iPad with the same Apple Account.
On iPhone and iPad the app is free, supported by ads. Premium removes all ads, unlocks Multiple choice and opens the app on Apple TV: an annual subscription, or a one-time purchase that lasts forever.
The old Kids, HD, HD Light, HD Kids and TV versions are no longer on sale. If you bought Classic, the original paid version, you can keep using it.
