Indovina la Regione
Italy’s 20 regions, learned by playing: a region lights up on the map and pops out enlarged, and you name it as fast as you can. On iPhone and iPad.
Free, for iPhone and iPad
How to play
Each turn, a region lights up in yellow on the map and an enlarged copy pops out, so even the smallest ones, like Molise or Valle d’Aosta, are easy to see. Once you’ve guessed all 20, the game is over.
If you don’t know one, tap “Salta questa regione” (skip this region): you move on to the next one and the skipped region comes back later in the same game.
Two modes
In Classica (Classic) you type the region’s name and get three attempts. Capitals, accents, apostrophes and hyphens don’t matter, and the common short names, like “Friuli” or “Trentino”, are accepted too.
In Scelta multipla (Multiple choice) you pick from four answers and get two attempts: it’s the mode for younger children. It’s unlocked with “Rimuovi la pubblicità” (Remove ads), and never shows ads.
Points and speed
Each correct answer is worth 100 points plus a speed bonus, which starts at 100 and drops to zero in 20 seconds: the colour of the timer and the bar show how much is left. Each wrong answer costs 10 points, but the score never goes below zero.
The timer stops during answer messages, when you pause and when you leave the app: it picks up where it left off.
The leaderboards
When you guess all 20 regions, your score goes to the Game Center leaderboard for the mode you played. There are two leaderboards, one per mode, the same on iPhone and iPad.
Free, and the ads can go
Since version 5.0, Indovina la Regione is a single app for iPhone and iPad, with the whole map always in view, in portrait and landscape. It’s free, supported by ads, and the ads can be removed: an annual subscription, or a one-time purchase that lasts forever. The same purchase unlocks Multiple choice.
The earlier versions (Classic, Kids, HD, HD Light and HD Kids) are no longer on sale. If you bought Classic, you can keep using it.
